Chandigarh, December 25:
Prominent Sikh farmer leader and President of Chandigarh unit of All India Jatt Mahasabha and National Delegate of Mahasabha S. Rajinder Singh Badheri today advised farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal not to be a part of any political party. Doing so would be a big mistake for farmer leaders. It may be recalled that in the past such news was published and disseminated in the media that Mr. Rajewal is now going to be a part of the Aam Aadmi Party.
In a statement issued here today, Mr. Rajinder Singh Badheri said that all the farmers now have full respect for Balbir Singh Rajewal and if he joins any political party, he will be a representative only for very few farmers; whereas at present, he is representing the entire farming community.
Mr. Badheri also gave diligent advice that if the farmers want to contest the elections, they should launch an independent party of their own. He said that till now the farmers had won such a big war against the central government only by remaining detached from political parties. Had they sought the support of any political party during their more than a year-long struggle, the Modi government would not have withdrawn the ‘Three Black Agriculture Act’ under any circumstances.
