Wheat price hike is negligible, farmers should be treated kindly: Rajinder Singh Badheri

Chandigarh:
Prominent Sikh farmer leader, President of Chandigarh unit of All India Jatt Mahasabha and National Delegate of Mahasabha S. Rajinder Singh Badheri said that the Rs. 40 hike in wheat prices by the Union Government was negligible. Releasing a statement to the press here today, the farmer leader said that earlier the price of wheat was Rs 1975 and now it has been enhanced to Rs 2015 only.

Mr. Badheri further said that during and after the Corona epidemic, the cost of farming has gone up significantly. This will not even cover the expenses of the farmers from sowing to harvesting. He said that the price of wheat should have been fixed at Rs. 2,100 now; Then the farmers could get some relief.

Mr. Badheri said that at the onset of the epidemic last year, the Anandata farmer did not care about himself and did not allow any delay in the harvest. This time too, despite the second wave of the epidemic, due to the hard work of the farmers, the crop yield has increased as compared to previous years. But the central government did not appreciate that effort.

Mr. Badheri said that the central government should have a cordial attitude towards the farmers. All the three agricultural laws should be repealed immediately in line with the demands of the agitating farmers who have been on the streets for the last nine and a half months. India’s economy cannot prosper without making farmers prosperous.
