Prominent Sikh farmer leader of Punjab, President of Chandigarh unit of All India Jatt Mahasabha and National Delegate of Mahasabha S. Rajinder Singh Badheri recently called on Rajya Sabha Member from Punjab. Mr. Badheri called on Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa and discussed the issues of farmers in particular, burning issues of Punjab and issues of Jatt Mahasabha. During the meeting, Mr. Bajwa assured to take action in this regard on priority basis. The farmer leader gave this information in a statement issued to the Press today.

Mr. Badheri asked Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa that the ruling leadership of Punjab should take such a decision in collaboration with other parties so that there would be no harm to the farmers. No political party should be in a situation of direct confrontation with the farmers. No statement should be issued which would benefit the mischievous elements.

While talking to Bajwa, S. Badheri said that the issue of farmers needs to be taken very seriously. What is needed now is for all the political parties, including the Congress party, to take a decision that will not affect the peasant movement that has been going on for the last nine and a half months.

Mr. Badheri said the farmers’ fight was only with the BJP, not any other party – so no political party should have any confrontation with the farmers. All parties should not go beyond their limits.

Mr. Badheri also told the media that the arrears announced by the Punjab government to the sugarcane growers were due to the release of the dues. Partap Singh Bajwa’s big role has been positive. Last month, Capt Amarinder Singh’s government announced a hike in sugarcane prices. Mr. Bajwa has played a big role. He said that Mr. Bajwa was currently focusing on the issues of the farmers.

Mr. Badheri further said that now S. Partap Singh Bajwa is going to contest the next assembly elections from Batala constituency, so now he is focusing on local issues, especially farmers.

During the one hour long meeting. Mr. Badheri also reminded Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa of the promises made by the Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh to the All India Jatt Mahasabha earlier. He said that the Jatts below the creamy layer are very poor. The lockdown caused by the Corona-Virus epidemic has taken a toll on everyone’s economy. The Punjab Government should pay attention to such issues.

Mr. Badheri said that some miscreants and other mischievous elements of Punjab sitting in Pakistan are often ready to disturb the peace of our state; Therefore, the ruling party of Punjab needs to pay attention to all these issues. Let there be no threat to the peace of the Punjab now with respect to the issues of farmers and other religiously sensitive issues.

Mr. Badheri said that S. Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa while talking to him at his residence in Sector-8, Chandigarh assured to take care of all these significant issues. Mr. Mr. Bajwa said that he would bring all these issues to the notice of Capt. Amarinder Singh and Congress High Command as well.

Mr. Bajwa said that he had been in Batala constituency for last three consecutive days where he had listened to the grievances of the locals and initiated action to resolve them. Mr. Bajwa said that his constituency was inhabited by people of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian faiths – hence he was fully aware of the importance of communal unity and mutual harmony.

Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa said that the issues raised by Badheri will be taken care of.

In the end, S. Badheri said that earlier Mr. Partap Singh Bajwa also raised the issues of farmers in the Rajya Sabha in a very forceful manner.
